Tsarskoe Selo meets the traditional shool holidays event Kids Days in St Petersburg with the following two special programmes:

Family Chat a Hundred Years Ago
24, 26, 28 March, 1 & 4 April
Alexander Palace
12 p.m.
For children aged 8-11

After reading fragments of correspondence between Nicholas II's family members, we will try to understand their feelings for each other, as well as their joys and sorrows. Walking trough the former imperial rooms, which the Romanovs considered their home, browsing some historical documents and solving tasks, we will learn how Nicholas and Alexandra's children lived, how they were schooled, what their hobbies and favourite books were. And finally, writing with a pen and ink will help us see if that influences the content and style of our message.

In Translation From...
25, 27, 30, 31 March, 2 & 3 April
Catherine Palace
1 p.m
For children aged 8-11

Many of the words used in our speech come from other languages: French, Italian and even Persian. We will feel like linguists and philologists for an hour and walk through the halls of the Catherine Palace to find some “secret” objects revealing how foreign words came to Russia. Then we will use those words to make up a story about Russian empresses or their ladies-in-waiting, modern day tourists or yourselves. The journey will end with creating your own dictionary of foreign words.

Tickets: Rub 500 (for children), Rub 700 (for adults, a palace ticket)

Registration by phone required: +7 (812) 415-76-15, +7 (812) 415-76-40 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily except Tuesday).
