The Alexander Palace of Tsarskoe Selo is decorated with lilac blooms in winter for the third time, thanks to old forced-flowering methods applied in our Greenhouses.
Nicholas II's family tradition of adorning the palace with forced lilac blooms was revived by our museum in the winter of 2022.
This year, eighteen lilac bushes are readied by our gardeners for moving from the Greenhouses to the palace rooms from late February until April.
The springtime spirit in the Maple and Mauve Rooms of Empress Alexandra is enhanced with flowers and fragrances of hyacinths, daffodils, crocuses and tulips, and with bitter orange trees, which also come from the Upper Greenhouses in the Alexander Park of Tsarskoe Selo.
