On the weekend of 13-14 July, the Catherine Park of Tsarskoe Selo offers opera and ballet performances and other interesting activities as part of the Pushkn Days festival.

The festival commemorates the 225th birth anniversary of the famous Russian author Alexander Pushkin who spent in Tsarskoe Selo six years as a student of the Imperial Lyceum and then the first summer of his married life.

Saturday 13 July (opera day)

    Interactive installations and reenactments of Pushkin's tales and novels
  • 3.00 p.m.
    Performance 'Golden Age' by actor and singer Oleg Pogudin
  • 6.00 p.m.
    Tchaikovsky's Evgeny Onegin opera performed by the theatre 'Sankt-Peterburg Opera'

Sunday 14 July (ballet day)

  • 12.00 p.m.
    'Museum Rose', a special tour of the Maids-of-Honour Garden with a talk on rose varieties of Pushkin's time by Tsarskoe Selo parks curator Olga Filippova (advance registration required)
    12.00 p.m.
    Interactive installations and reenactments of Pushkin's tales and novels

    Guided tours of the Catherine Park
  • 1.00 p.m.
    'Faust', a skomorokh-style once-man show
  • 3.00 p.m.
    Ballet suites based on Pushkin's works performed by Mariinsky dancer Ilmira Bagautdinova
  • 4.00 p.m.
    The Blizzard ballet based on Pushkin's novelette, with music by Georgy Sviridov and performance by the ballet theatre 'Saint-Michel'
