Patterns of Friendship is an exhibition of young Russian and Iranian artists whose works are on display at the Admiralty pavilion of the Catherine Park from 17 October to 7 November 2024.
The exhibition showcases over 100 works selected from nearly 600 paintings in which Iranians and Russians expressed their perceptions of each others' cultures and traditions.
According to Masud Ahmadvand, the Iranian cultural attaché in Moscow who came to Tsarskoe Selo for the opening of the exhibition, the project illustrates the Iranian artists' great knowledge of Russian culture, writers and composers, and the Russian artists' high appreciation of Iranian traditions, Persian literature and cultural monuments.
Part of a cultural festival of the same name, Patterns of Friendship commemorates Russian artist and pedagogue Sergei Andriyaka (1958–2024), who was at the helm of his Watercolour and Fine Arts Academy where the exhibition was launched before travelling to Tsarskoe Selo and then down to Sochi and finally to Iran.
The exhibition is open 10am to 4pm Friday to Tuesday, closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Free entry with a Catherine Park ticket.
