The history of the State Museum Tsarskoye Selo is inseparable from the lives and personalities of its curators — the specialists devoted to the organization, study, enrichment and exposition of the museum collections.
Complicated turns and twists in the history of Russia more than once put Tsarskoуe Selo on the brink of elimination, when its curators had to put off scientific work because more vital was to save the collections from destruction. But even during such calamities as the Great Patriotic War they kept their research, wrote books and opened new exhibitions.
This section is dedicated to a brilliant cohort of the specialists who greatly contributed to art study and defined the character and direction of the Museum.
