Over sixty sculptures in the Catherine and Alexander Parks are readied for the coming winter.

The first to be covered till late spring are our 300-year-old Venetian marble sculptures along the park façade of the Catherine Palace and at the Parterre and the Main Alley of the Old Garden. They will wear special covers of metal sheets on wood frames, with the sculptures' images placed upon. Those sculptures, as well as the bronze bust of the architect Francesco Rastrelli near the Circumference of the Catherine Palace, recently underwent special cleaning and water-repellent treatment.

In the Catherine Park, the nineteenth-century Marble Fountain in the Private Garden and the copper electrotypes of antique statues at the Granite Terrace and the Ramp Alley are ready to be covered. The famous Girl-with-a-Pitcher Fountain and the sculptures at the Ramp Alley will follow soon, as well as the 'Chinese' sculptures on the Large Chinese Bridge in the Alexander Park.

The eighteenth-century busts of historical and mythical figures, standing at the colonnade of the Cameron Gallery and originating from Catherine II's private collection, will spend the cold months inside the gallery.

One hundred and twenty-three grave slabs of the horses that served Russian emperors and empresses will be duly protected from frost and precipitation at the Imperial Horse Cemetery.
